The food was ok, not great. The service was definitely lacking. We had to continually ask for things (bread, which was dry toasted store bought italian and not a fresh baked, silverware, wine & beverage/water re-fills).... Would I go back, probably not. There were four of us and we had the fixed price dinner for $26.95 and included an appetizer, main course and desert. The Caesar salad had no taste, thank goodness for salt & pepper! The veal parmigiana was pretty good but the marina on the pasta was very sweet! For desert, the ricotta pie was a small sliver and kind of dry. The cappuccino was excellent and so was the wine but, we had to get up and get the bottle to re-fill our own glasses. Our dining partners had chicken and gnocchi. The gnocchi were mushy (over-cooked) but, the chicken was good. But, all the marinara sauces were sweet, (sugary). They definitely used way too much sugar in their sauce. The other desert an apple crumble was a small amount of seasoned and cooked fresh apples mixed into a crumble which was put on top of a small dish of vanilla ice cream. Kind of disappointing! So, my total experience was fair and nothing to rave about. There are definitely better restaurants!

Reservations for five please? No problem! What a GEM! Thanks to YELP reviewers some out of towners had the dinner of their weeks vacation on the first evening! Great summer special between 5 & 6pm! Entrée and a dessert or appetizer for $21. I had the Veal Marsala which is tender and delicious along with some of the BEST French Onion soup I had have ever had cross my taste buds! I also had a chance to try the Braised Short Ribs with risotto. Amazing! Looking for a "Can't miss, slam dunk, wish I lived here" dining experience? Home run here!

We've been here several times, and always amazed at the excellence of food and service. The Prix fix menu includes appetizer, entree and dessert for $33. Premiums are charged on some items, and coffees are extra. The wine list is short, but adequate and the house wines quite good, and reasonably priced. The owner chef is french, but the cuisine tilts more Italian. Service is always top notch...no amateurs here. I've been to most of the restaurants in the area, and I would place Nonna Maria at or near the very top.

This is our second trip and we could not be happier! This place is a find! The food and service are absolutely wonderful. Rarely do you find a restaurant that wins in all categories. We will come back here every single time we are in this area.

Great dining experience! Food & service way above par! One of the best Italian restaurants in the area! Opened up with a baked manicotti red gravy, followed up with escarole salad with sliced pears feta cheese cranberries nuts, short ribs over risotta that fell off the bone to die for & chicken & veal Marsala equally as good with a side of homemade linguine with garlic & oil. Home made desserts of ricotta cheese cake top it off!!

Went here last night for dinner. It's important to note that last night was New Year's Eve, and I am always wary of eating out on this night. Usually the service is rushed, the food subpar, and the ambiance anything but enjoyable. But, I have to say that last night's dinner was one of the best dining experiences I've had in quite some time. Not only was the food absolutely delicious (escargot, clams casino, pasta bolognese, rack of lamb), but the service was wonderful. The waitstaff was kind, knowledgeable and helpful; the chef even came around to check on how our meals were. Overall, a wonderful experience with the highest recommendation.

Nice ambiance, very poor service. Waiter ignored our table, did not refill drinks, did not bring bread to the table and when ordering butternut squash soup, received clam chowder. Not good if you have a fish allergy. When asked about bread, waiter told us they were out of bread, and it was just coming out of the oven, meanwhile tables served by other waiters were receiving bread. When informed about the soup mistake for two, the waiter informed us that if the kitchen runs out of an item they will substitute it (apparently without informing the customer). Waiter took no responsibility for the poor service. Won't do this again.

We visit Nonnas each time, 2-3 times a year, when visiting the Palm Beaches, this year in conjunction with RI John Cafferty's Beaver Brown Band appearence at Sun Fest. Consistent high level service, specials, and fixed price options. This visit we had veal piccata, rabe and sausage, and desserts. Picata sauce outstanding and really liked the artichoke hearts and shrooms with the sauce. Veal thin and fork tender. Other dish was moist and tender rabe with zero bitterness. Two desserts to go and fine meal for sure. No bar, but that's OK as the wine list, both per glass and bottles reasonable. Simply put, go there, make reservations.

We eat at Nonna Maria two times in the 5 days we were on vacation on Singer Island. Both meals were outstanding. It is one of the best places in Palm Beach County.

This was an amazing find thanks to you fellow yelpers. Amazing good and amazing service. The owner/chef came by multiple times to make sure we were ok. We got the cheese ravioli, the gnocchi, and two orders of the braised short ribs over risotto it is that good...all the desserts look awesome

Nonna Maria - Italian with a French Twist Indeed It has been over 6 years since we lived on the sand at the south end of Jupiter Beach. Back then it was an easy trip down US1 to Northlake for what always was a memorable meal at Nonna Maria. Now a bit further north we don't have the opportunity to get there as often as we once did and it's a real shame. A week or so ago I heard from a Paradise Sharks Real Estate client from the Bahamas who originally introduced us to this special spot. Then last night we had a late meeting in the immediate area and decided what luck that our busy work schedule had us so close to one our favorites. Those who know me, know I hate chain restaurants, and I love locally owned restaurants run by those who have a passion for what they do. We know that it is small businesses run by those with a passion that are the heartbeat of America. Judy and Francois are part of that heartbeat. And dining with them is always a true pleasure. Judy always greets us with a smile and a hug and even early on a Friday night the restaurant is buzzing so you better have a reservation. Years ago, I remember sitting with her after the restaurant had emptied as they were struggling with the need to raise the cost of their Prix-Fixe menu by $2 because of what that would mean to their customers. It was required to keep quality high and I assured her it would not matter. Years later, the 3 course meal is still a bargain and the quality is still high. You can go A la Carte but it is the Prix-Fixe that we always order because we know what a treat the deserts Francois turns out are. And we know, we have been dreaming about the Pernod garlic butter served on the Escargot since our last visit. Be prepared as you will not go hungry and this meal is truly an event. Order a bottle of wine from the well priced menu, sit back and enjoy. The homemade bread and roasted garlic oil is a treat as are the peppers, olives and carrots that are served as you start your evening. Last night, Lisa opted for one of the specials that was a Black Grouper with a curry sauce and an amazing black rice with roasted vegetables. I went with Braised Short Ribs served with a chianti reduction and a heavenly risotto that only Francois could do. Amazing and delicious were both of our entrees. There were two special deserts last night and we ordered one of each: a dark chocolate mouse and a key lime tart. If they were any better they would be illegal and I am not kidding you. As we enjoyed our cappuccino we were honored that Francois made his way out of the kitchen to say hello. Another very special evening indeed.....

Great traditional Italian restaurant. Portion sizes are huge! Very pleasant atmosphere and the servers were attentive. Try the prix fix menu. It's a great way to try an appetizer, entree, and dessert for one great price. The exterior of the building does not look very inviting, but go in. It's worth it!

Holy crap this place is amazing. I had the special Picatto Yellowfin Snapper with artichoke, capers, and mushrooms. I'm not sure if it was the delicious sauce but it was definitely the best fish I've ever had. Great environment and looks really neat on the inside, excellent little date spot.

Visited Nonna Maria last night for the first time, based on the terrific reviews found on Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc. Those reviews are spot-on. It's a terrific restaurant, albeit small. With 14 tables, most of those 4-tops, limited hours, and reasonable prices, it's hard to imagine that this restaurant can turn a profit and has done so for the last 29 years. And the staff...6 attentive servers for 14 tables? Service, needless to say, was impeccable. Now on to the food and wine. First of all, only bottled beer and a variety of wines by the bottle and glass. There is an extensive list of wines, although that was my one complaint. It's an Italian restaurant with a French flair, so please offer some out-of-the-box wine choices, especially in whites. Standard whites like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio, but how about a Soave or a white burgundy? It's a minor complaint, and not worth losing a star over. The food was outstanding. Great menu, and of course, as you've seen mentioned in other reviews, the prix fixe at $29.95 with slight upcharges for some offerings. We were flying out the next morning so didn't want a lot of food to have to leave behind, so we had no intention of doing the prix fixe, but went that way anyway. They bring crusty bread, roasted garlic with garlic infused olive oil, and giardinera to the table to start. Hubby had a caesar, lightly dressed in a fantastic Caesar with 2 anchovies on top. He declared it one of the better Caesar salads he has had. He then had veal marsala, loaded with mushrooms, and as tender as could be. He followed that with orange sherbet (I know, boring, given all the other options he could have had), but he wanted something light. Ordered an espresso and was given a complimentary shot of anisette with a biscotti on the side. We were also provided with complimentary coconut macaroons. The prix fixe cost for his meal, sans espresso, was $29.95. I opted for the beet, tomato and feta salad, and it was amazing. Beautiful presentation with a gorgeous slab of beefsteak tomato, the sweetest beet I have ever had, topped with feta, and arranged on endive with a balsamic drizzle. I could have had three of four of those appetizers as my dinner and been perfectly happy. I then had the yellowtail snapper piccata on a bed of spinach, topped with mushrooms, lemon caper sauce, and an artichoke heart. Our waiter described the snapper as "melt-in-your-mouth" and he was right. I finished my dinner with Cafe Liegeois, an espresso, coffee ice cream, chocolate syrup and whipped cream concoction that was simply awesome. I rarely order dessert but that was so worth it. $2 upcharge for my snapper on the Prix Fixe menu. Our bill was about $115 with 4 glasses of wine and all that food. Amazing. I'd go back in a heartbeat, and the next time we are in Palm Beach, it will be our first stop.

This was our seventh night out to eat in the Palm Beach area and was by far, the best meal we had! The Cauliflower soup was deliciously light and tasty. Luckily my kids did not finish their French Onion soup because it was the best I ever had. Most taste too salty but not Nonnas. The Yellowtail Snapper Francaise was excellent as well! I was able to taste the Chicken Parmesan and Chicken Marsala as well. Both dishes were excellent! This place is a must stop if you are in the area. Service is impeccable as well! Great way to end a Vacation!

Wonderful rack of lamb! Service was excellent. The restaurant was recommended to us and we are glad we went. One of the best meals we've had and it was a great value.

Avoid this restaurant if you want good service. The food is fine. No issues there. Unless you want the dish you ordered. Or the second dish you ordered. Because they probably won't have the ingredients to make them. Veal Milanese. Pretty simple dish. For an Italian restaurant. Ordered it. 6 of us in a party. The server decided to tell me they didn't have the ingredients for it as he was passing out the dishes for the rest of my party. I asked for another dish on the menu. They were out of that--at 6:15 pm. Management came over. The owner is very nice. But besides getting me another dish after the rest of my party was done eating, didn't offer anything. Not a glass of wine, not something off of the bill. Nothing. For the prices they charge, food and service should be better. If you want to be overcharged for ok food and poor service, then this is the place to go.

Service was very good. They forgot the bread we ordered but otherwise very good. Onion soup was very good. Chicken parmision was mediocre at best.

Read the reviews on Yelp so we tried. Food was great. Service was even better. They only serve beer and wine. Ok wine list. Price fix and a la cart portions are the same. Staff was very attentive. Not an empty seat in the place but the acoustics were fine. It appeared that a majority of the patrons were regulars so that is a good sign. Definitely coming back when I am back down in FL.

I am reluctant to share my views of Nonna Maria, because it's already difficult to get a table, but here goes: the food is delicious and service is attentive and perfect. Most of the individuals in our party had the chef's specials, and they were spectacular. I had the best scallops of my life! My husband had the veal piccata and said the same of his dish. The piccata was surprising, because the veal wasn't smothered in sauce, but it was lightly crispy and full of flavor. I have no problems with the pricing because you get what you pay for at Nonna Maria!

This restaurant was a real winner. Outstanding service and great value. The menu and specials offered a nice variety. Everything was very well prepared and absolutely delicious. We started with escargot & French onion soup, both very good. The trout special and veal francese were delicious as were our desserts-all made in house. Highly recommend!

First timer. Escargot, tasty and very garlicky. Snapper francaise, light and fresh. Desserts were good, not great. Ricotta cheesecake and creme brûlée were a little too cold. But, they were light and flavorful. Will be back for the veal parm.

Nice atmosphere. Good service. Very fair pricing. But honestly just barely average food. Won't return - too many other choices in town.

One of the finest dinning experience I have had in recent years. These people have it together: the food, wine and service were superior and the ambiance very good for a highway location. Three of us were dining and we ate from their prix fixe menu which offered a wide range of choices and included most daily specials. I love snails and their offering was excellent. My wife's oysters were beautifully served with an excellent mignonette. Our aunt had the oysters Rockefeller which were perfectly served. Our mains, veal two ways and short ribs were well prepared and generous. Of our desserts the Profiteroles and Cafe Liegoise were delicious, the Ricotta Cake, a favorite of mine, was a bit dry. Both our wines were reasonable and delicious. Give this place a try, you will not regret it. We will return.

This place is a true hidden gem. For the first time here in Palm Beach Gardens, I've discovered an awesome restaurant that's not hidden in a shopping center! Nonna Maria is a fusion of French and Italian. They have an amazing menu with a $26 pre fixe for an appetizer, dinner and dessert. Absolutely fresh and filling! Desert-must-have: The last item on the menu - a coffee ice cream and espresso concoction!

What a terrific find! I wasn't sure what to expect from an Italian restaurant with French posters on the walls, but true Italian it is. The osso bucco was outstanding: flavorful, beautifully presented and generously apportioned. I can't believe I ate the whole thing but I did, and loved every bite. The veal piccata was equally good, or so I was told. And the service was just right--attentive without being overbearing. Would I come back? In a heartbeat.

Last night's dinner was delicious. The 4 appetizers and main courses were prepared with care and served hot. From duck to lamb shank to veal Parma to snapper all were outstanding. Try it, you'll like it! M

Been Here Before and forgot about this gem. Went to a friend's birthday party at this small restaurant and was quickly blown away. Had the Rack of Lamb (had a rosemary taste). Delicious. My girlfriend had Linguine Bolognese. They seemed to add red pepper to the meat and it was awesome. Chocolate cake with citrus glaze. Great presentations but you will wait for your food. OVERALL just awesome.

Excellent food with superior service and very pleasant atmosphere. The very best eggplant parmigiana. Try it, you will be pleased

Excellent! I had the eggplant parmigian with whole wheat rotini and it was very good. Also had a nice salad and an ice cream Sunday. Others in our party had the chicken parmigian. I also looked that the facility was light and lots of room between tables. The service was terrific. No complaints.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
